Developing Global Partnerships in Health since 1978
Swecare is a unique platform where academia, public and private sector join forces toward enhanced export and internationalization of Swedish health care and life science.
Swecare’s work is based on the triple helix model where academia, public sector (including the government), and private sector jointly address health care challenges. Joining forces and addressing problems from multiple angles in turn increases collaboration and international competitiveness of Swedish health care.
Swecare was founded in 1978 by the Swedish government and the health care industry together as a semi-governmental non-profit organization. Today, Swecare has around 550 Swedish companies and organizations in its network. The members represent the entire health care spectrum – from the small startup company to universities, county councils, and global corporations, working with everything from biotech to medical technology, pharmaceuticals, and health care services.
Solving the major health care challenges we stand before require collaboration across the health care chain. Swecare continuously expands its extensive international network through long term partnerships with similar organizations abroad and international embassies represented in Sweden. Through the Swecare platform, member organizations can access counterparts across the globe. Swecare assists ministries and official agencies in their international contacts, and receives foreign delegations visiting Sweden. Through a demand driven approach Swecare also arranges seminars, network meetings, and runs projects within identified focus areas.
International delegation trips are one of Swecare’s main activities. Swecare acts as a door opener for companies and organizations looking to access ministerial speaking partners, business contacts or collaborators. The trips are often carried out together with Swedish ministers or ambassadors and other key actors in the Swedish health care markets. Swecare continuously receives incoming international health care delegations and offers seminars, study visits and other networking opportunities
