Developing Global Partnerships in Health since 1978
The first part of the delegation took place in Ankara. The day started with an overview of the procurement system in Turkey focusing on state hospitals. This was presented by the Health Industry Employer’s Association of Turkey, an organization with a mission similar to Swecare’s.
Next stop was a meeting at the Turkish Ministry of Health. Deputy Undersecretary Mr. İsmail Demirtaş, welcomed the delegation and chaired a meeting where several experts from the Turkish side participated. The Swedish delegates could interact and ask questions to the ministry representatives and a discussion on public procurement, public-private partnerships and reimbursement took place. In the afternoon a SymbioCare-seminar was held where Karin Johansson held the introductory speech and Mr. Fatih Türkmen, General Directorate for Social Sectors and Coordination, Department for Health and Social Security, Ministry of Development, talked on the topic Current Outlook and Future Prospects of the Turkish Health Care Sector. The companies then participated in three panel discussion on the areas infection control, life style related diseases and efficient treatment methods. The day ended with a reception hosted by the Swedish ambassador to Turkey, Mr. Håkan Åkesson and the last flight to Istanbul.
The program in Istanbul started with a study visit to Florence Nightingale Hospital and the inauguration of their new Gamma knife. In the afternoon there was a meeting with private hospital purchasers at the premises of the Swedish Consulate General. Mr. Orhan Orhon, Purchasing Director, Medical Park made a presentation on Purchasing procedures at Turkish private hospitals.
This was followed by a networking reception at the Consul General, Mr Torkel Stiernlöf’s, residence.
