Developing Global Partnerships in Health since 1978
Swecare together with the Swedish Trade Council, Invest Sweden, Growth Analysis and the regional embassies arranged a Health Care delegation to South Korea and Japan. The delegation was led by the government appointed elderly coordinator Eva Nilsson Bågenholm. A dozen companies and organizations participated. The program began with two days in Seoul. Among the activities were the ”Swedish Solutions for the Aging Society in Korea” seminar and an accompanying exhibition of the Swedish companies. Study visits took place to Bucheon Geriatric Hospital, a hospital run by Dr. Kang and Samsung Noble County Nursing Home.
On Wednesday the delegation proceeded to Tokyo where a full day was devoted to a policy-oriented seminar ”Ageing Society in Japan and Sweden, Effective Policies and Solutions”. The Stockholm County Council took an active part in the seminar. In the afternoon focus shifted to a more business oriented seminar ”Aging with Grace, the Swedish Model. ” A study visit was conducted to Kashiwa City where a project between the city of Kashiwa and Tokyo University is carried out to adapt the town to the increasing aging population. The trip was an initiative of the embassies. The project was very interesting, especially from the perspective that it gave a lot of ideas for future activities in the region.
The delegation gave the participants an opportunity to liaise with stakeholders in Korea and Japan. An example was an initiative taken by Dr. Kang to strengthen cooperation between his hospital and Swecare and suggested a show room for Swedish products and solutions at the Samsung Noble County Nursing Home.
